Renewable energy policy sought

The wind power sector will be able to offer 300 to 400 MW to Tamil Nadu power grid between June and September. The pollution-free generation will be from an installed capacity of about 800 MW. At present 200 to 250 MW from wind power resources is being fed daily into the State grid. Speaking to mediapersons, the secretary of the Wind Power Producers Association, Mr. K. Kasturirangaian, said that for the past three to four years the sector had recorded a growth of only 100 MW, though the State's potential was estimated at 2,000 MW.
