State Human Rights Commission member R. Natarajan has asked for a report from the Alappuzha Municipality secretary on a petition filed by the Human Rights Protection Council on waste illegally dumped in various parts of the town.
The petition filed by Council State secretary G. Samuel had alleged that waste was being illegally dumped in the town and authorities were not taking any action to remove the waste. The South CI has been asked to conduct night patrolling to prevent illegal dumping of waste. The district police chief has been asked to submit a report at the Commission’s next sitting on February 6. The couple, Rajesh and Reshmi, who were humiliated and harassed at the South Police station here recently, were asked to appear before the commission in its next sitting on February 6. Woman civil police officer Jessymol and police driver Noushad, who appeared before the commission with their advocates, were also asked to appear at the next sitting.
