The head of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development has called for rich nations to open their markets fully to exports by developing countries, including agricultural products developed through biotechnology. Donald Johnston, OECD secretary-general, told a biotechnology conference that he was enthusiastic about new food production techniques because they could make strong contribution to the sustainable development of poor countries.
