Municipal Administration Minister Koneru Ranga Rao informed the House that the World Bank has been extending financial assistance of Rs 1,100 crore for municipalities in the State for improvement of infrastructure facilities.In a written reply to a question posed by Devineni Umamaheswara Rao and N Amaranatha Reddy, he said out of the total amount, 30 percent will be assistance while the remaining 70 percent was loan with nine percent interest payable in 25 years with five years moratorium.Similarly, the Department for International Development (DFID) has also come forward to extend an assistance of Rs 1,400 crore which will be spent in 42 municipalities for development of slum areas.
