The annual Plan of Gujarat for 2005-06 has been fixed at Rs 11,000 crore at a meeting between the Planning Commission Deputy Chairman, Dr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, and the Chief Minister, Mr Narendra Modi. While appreciating the efforts of the State to improve enrolment of girl children, encourage private sector participation in the power sector and optimise water use through putting in place water regulatory authority and drip irrigation, Dr Ahluwalia urged the State to address the problem of regional disparities and encourage self-help groups.
