Rs 1,500 cr eco-friendly power project coming up near Surat

Asia's first power utility, based an clean coal technology, is all set to be commissioned by the Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd (GIPCL) near Surat at a cost of over Rs 1,500 crore. The first !25 MW unit of India's first 250 MW power plant based on circulating fluidised bed combustion (CFBC) technology hailed in the developed world as the clean coal technology is likely to be synchronised in the first week of March, 1999. The 250 MW lignite-based power plant has been set up at Nani Naroli in Mangrol taluka of Surat by the GIPCL.
