Rs. 27-crore power scheme planned

Power infrastructure will be developed using Information Technology in Dindigul and Palani TNEB divisions for the convenience of consumers at an estimated cost of Rs.27 crore under Power Development and Rehabilitation Scheme. A total of 40,457 consumers in Dindigul and 10,978 consumers in Palani would benefit, said Minister for Power R. Viswanathan.

 

Commissioning a transformer in Natham sub-station at a cost of Rs.1.06 crore on Sunday, he said that the modernisation programme would be completed within three years.

 

About 3,000 power connections, including free power and self-finance scheme, would be given to farmers for agriculture purposes. To ensure uniform and uninterrupted power supply to all farmers, the TNEB would also commission eight 110 KV substations at Pappampatti, Ezhuvanampatti, Minukkampatti, Kedhauyarumbu, Kotthayam, Kovil, Dindigul Sandhai Road and Chinnalapatti and install additional transformers at sub-stations at Chinnakamanpatti, Chithargalnatham, Gandhigram, Ramarajapuram, Kovilur, Palayam, Thadikombu, V. Kurumbapatti, Renganathapuram, Iyyampalayam, Vittalnaickenpatti and Sengurichi villages.

 

The new 10 KV transformer at Natham sub-station would regulate power supply to Natham, Uluppagudi, Velampatti, Punnapatti, Serveedu, Reddiyapatti, Vathipatti, Lingavadi, Parali, Sathampadi, Uralipatti, Moongilpaptti, Samudhrapatti, Kottaiyur, Pudhupatti, Kuttupatti, Aravakurichi, Avichipatti, Sekkipatti, Koombur and Sirugudi villages.

 

With continuous efforts, the TNEB had scaled down the duration of power cut to two hours in rural areas and one hour in urban areas from three hours. Later, the Minister inaugurated a new building for Punnpatti panchayat and a ration shop.
