Rs 79.28 cr relief for farmers

The Haryana government has allocated a sum of over Rs 79.28 crore for payment of relief to farmers of Bhiwani and Hisar districts whose Rabi crops-2008 were damaged due to drought. As per a letter to this effect issued by Naresh Gulati, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, a sum of over Rs 68.82 crore has been allocated for Bhiwani district and over Rs 10.46 crore for Hisar district. The compensation will be disbursed strictly in accordance with the norms of gratuitous relief and prescribed scales. Strict care will be taken to ensure that disbursement of the relief is actually made to the identified beneficiaries and not adjusted in other dues pending in their names and it is made strictly in accordance with these instructions in conformity with the damage in each field. The actual distribution of cash will be done by Additional Deputy Commissioners, Subdivisional Officers (Civil), City Magistrates and District Revenue Officers who will be appointed as team leaders. While distributing the relief, 20 per cent physical checking by the Deputy Commissioner and 5 per cent by the Divisional Commissioner will be ensured. Payment of relief will be made publicly after giving due publicity in the villages concerned to avoid any criticism and proper attestation /identification of the recipients will be carried out. Signatures of both recipients and identifiers will be obtained on receipts and Deputy Commissioners will ensure safe custody of all receipts.
