In a major boost to the power sector reforms being carried out in the state, the Rural Electrification Corporation L:td (REC) has almost doubled the disbursement amount to Andhra Pradesh to undertake rural electrification programme in the current year. Under its lending programme for Andhra Pradesh, the corporation has decided to disburse Rs 800 crore to the Transmission Corporation of Andhra pradesh (AP Transco) in the current year, which is substantially higher than Rs 420 crore in the previous year.
