Equal importance given to improve road connectivity: Collector Efforts on for filling up teacher posts in schools particularly in hilly regions Basic amenities to be improved at government schools especially in villages DINDIGUL: District administration will implement development works at an estimated cost of Rs.82.43 crore in rural areas under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in 2009-10, according to Collector M. Vallalar. He was addressing a special meeting on various development works to be taken up in the district held here on Tuesday. The National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme that provided jobs to rural poor for minimum 100 days in a year had been implemented in all 306 village panchayats. Water bodies Improving ground water sources and renovating existing water bodies at villages like desilting of irrigation tanks and supply channels were on top of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme work schedule undertaken. Besides, equal importance was given to improve road connectivity to interior villages and enhance basic amenities at villages, he added. 400 works In 2008-09, district administration had executed 400 out of total 1,638 works taken up at a cost of Rs.75.23 crore and rest of the works were being expedited to bring into public use within scheduled time.
