Implementation of the prestigious rural connectivity road scheme of the state government with construction of gravel roads in all 50 districts has begun. In the first phase of the scheme, construction process of 2700 roads has started. Under the scheme, 2676 roads with a length of 6118 km will be constructed. This will link more than 3200 villages which had so far no approach roads. It may be mentioned here that the Central Government has appreciated this prestigious gravel road scheme of the Madhya Pradesh Government and asked other states to adopt it.
* Rural connectivity roads scheme is being implemented with contribution from Mukhyamantri Sadak Yojna, National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and Special Backward Area Subsidy Fund.
* Roads will be constructed under gravel road engineering system
* Government of India appreciated construction of Madhya Pradesh Rural Connectivity Scheme and Gravel Road Engineering. Asked other states to adopt this scheme.
* Indian Road Congress also appreciated.
* Target to construct 19386 km long roads in next three years. More than Rs 3000 crore to be spent on this.
* An additional executive engineer to be appointed in districts where more than 500 km long roads are to be constructed.
Panchayat, Rural Development & Social Justice Minister Gopal Bhargava informed that work on first phase of the rural connectivity road scheme with contributions from three other schemes has already started. Under this, 322 packages have been made for construction of 2676 roads. The total length of these roads will be 6118 kms. To be constructed at a cost of Rs 467 crore, these roads will link 3207 villages which had so far no approach roads. These roads will be constructed as per gravel engineering. The roads will be constructed with local infrastructure. Employment Guarantee Scheme, Special Backward Region Subsidy Scheme and National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme will contribute in construction of these roads.
These roads will be constructed in all 50 districts of the state. In Sagar district 174 roads will be constructed, in Rajgarh 167, in Raisen 142, in Vidisha 134, and in Jabalpur district 100 roads will be constructed in rural areas. Apart from these, 20 roads will be constructed in Indore district, 14 in Khandwa, 33 in Dhar, 5 in Alirajpur, 14 in Jhabua, 34 in Khargone, 1 in Badwani, 5 in Burhanpur, 43 in Gwalior, 47 in Shivpuri, 40 in Datia, 24 in Guna, 71 in Ashoknagar, 81 in Morena, 70 in Bhind, 21 in Sheopur, 15 in Bhopal, 60 in Sehore, 77 in Hoshangabad, 30 in Harda, 40 in Betul, 32 in Katni, 68 in Narsinghpur, 92 in Chhindwara, 76 in Seoni, 56 in Balaghat, 40 in Mandla, 67 in Ujjain, 48 in Dewas, 88 in Shajapur, 70 in Ratlam, 59 in Mandsaur, 29 in Neemuch, 71 in Damoh, 49 in Panna, 70 in Chhatarpur, 61 in Tikamgarh, 67 in Rewa, 90 in Satna, 25 in Sidhi, 17 in Singrauli, 35 in Shahdol, 11 in Anuppur, 57 in Umaria and 20 roads will be constructed in Dindori.
