SAARC vows to fight poverty, boost energy resources

Seven South Asian nations vowed to move swiftly to relieve poverty and take steps to meet the populous region's energy needs, Pakistan foreign minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri said. "Poverty alleviation was identified as a single most daunting development challenge" for the region, Kasuri told reporters at the end of a two-day meeting of the foreign ministers of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).
