Safety review for closure of UK's top nuclear plant

Revelations on Friday of lax safety standards at Britain's biggest nuclear facility prompted calls for the plutonium reprocessing plant to be shut down. The environmental pressure group Greenpeace said production of nuclear fuel rods at Sellafield, in North-western England, should be halted, while the Irish government challenged London to explain why operations were being allowed to continue.
