The thorny issue of tariff compensation mechanism demanded by the least developed countries (LDCs) of Saarc is not likely to delay the implementation of the South Asian Free Trade Agreement (Safta). Ssenior commerce ministry commerce said that while the compensation issue was far from being resolved, it would not hold up the agreement and the matter would be sorted out after the implementation of Safta. "We will not delay implementation of the agreement because of disagreement over one or two issues. Those can be sorted out later,' an official said.
