To help villages assess their development in terms of certain prosperity indicators, a Sonepat-based farmer, Amit Dahiya, has developed the "Interactive Development Index''. This index assess village development on ten parameters - land, people, productivity, employment, education, health, peace, responsibility, environment and excellence.
"Usually, politicians promise the moon to farmers and others during election time. And then they conveniently forget about them. However, if villages knew where they stand, what they would demand is a little rise in the various indicators,'' says Dahiya, who made a presentation on his interactive development indeed at the recently concluded 2nd World Jat Convention.
