Scientists have finished mapping the complete genome of the bacterium that causes chlamydia, the most common sexually transmitted disease in the US. The findings could lead to better drugs to combat the infection. A team of researchers from the University of California in Berkeley and San Francisco announced the completion of the genetic map in the Thursday 22 October issue of the journal Science.
