A recent study undertaken by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) has brought to light that the quantum of transmission and distribution losses in the country far exceeds the actual amount of power consumed by medium and large scale industries. The study, while pointing out that most of the State Electricity Boards(SEBs) were losing out 25 to 30 per cent of their total energy output, also suggests that the SEBs do not have any system of energy conservation.
