Several fishermen getting benefit of fisheries schemes in state

Fishermen and fish breeders in the state are constantly getting the benefits of fisheries schemes. During the year 2011-12, twenty beneficiaries of 13 districts have been selected for fishing training under National Agriculture Development Scheme. Out of these, five beneficiaries are from Harda district, two each from Betul, Jabalpur and Chhindwara districts and one each from Seoni, Satna, Hoshangabad, Dhar, Indore, Bhopal, Mandsaur, Chhatarpur and Balaghat districts. Under the same scheme, a sum of Rs. 10 lakh each has been sanctioned in five cases for water augmentation area development. These include two each beneficiaries of Bhopal and Nargsinghpur districts and one beneficiary of Tikamgarh district. A sum of Rs. five lakh 63 thousand has been sanctioned in Pond Culture Scheme to 20 beneficiaries for fish breeding. Three of the beneficiaries of the scheme are from Jabalpur district, two each from Barwani, Ujjain, Shajapur, Satna and Umaria and one each from Dhar, Khandwa, Seoni, Rewa, Shahdol and Dindori districts. Similarly, four beneficiaries of Harda district have also been provided cheques under Savings-cum-Relief Scheme. Insurance claim amount of Rs. 50 thousand each has also been provided to four beneficiaries of Balaghat and Rewa districts under Accident Insurance Scheme. With a view to promoting fish breeding, different subsidy amounts have also been distributed among 17 beneficiaries of 15 districts under the scheme for digging ponds in own field.
