Royal Dutch/Shell, the biggest oil producer in Nigeria, has for the first time declared force majeure on shipments from both its Bonny and Forcados crude export terminals in the Niger Delta. Force majeure at Bonny was declared after a main pipeline linking inland processing plants with the coastal export terminal was sabotaged. Investigators found that a 9mm hole had been drilled in a buried pipeline causing an estimated 700 barrel oil spill.
