An influential Silicon Valley trade group voted on Thursday to support construction of a controversial power plant in the heart of California's high-tech mecca, handing strong ammunition to advocates. The board of the Silicon Valley Manufacturing Group (SVMG), a public policy trade group that includes high-tech giants like Intel Corp. and IBM , voted to support the proposed Metcalf Energy Center, the SVMG said in a statement.
