The Sivasagar district development office of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) in association with the District Social Welfare Department organised a workshop on SHGs and micro credit for Anganwadi workers at Block Development Office, Sapekhati. The participant Anganwadi workers volunteered to promote about 200-250 SHGs by September 2004. The workshop was attended by 52 Anganwadi workers of integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) office, Sapekhati, besides Manash Jyoti Baruah, SDO (Civil), Charaideo; Satyajit Gogoi, BDO, Sapekhati Block; Akoni Shyam, Extension Officer (Credit), HC Biswas, DDM, NABARD; Kamaleswar Gayen, Manager, Lakhimi Gaonlia Bank, Longpotia, and Biswajit Chetia, Secretary, Uttaran, an NGO were also present there.
