Manipura village in Alur taluk of Hassan District has 17 families with a population less than a 100.The Karnataka Power transmission Corporation Limited(KPTCL) has found it hard to put up power pylons and to draw cables due to the vastness of the forest surrounding the village. Even if the power lines are drawn to the village, they are likely to snap in high winds during the monsoon. Thanks to the Zilla Panchayat's initiative, the villagers now have solar-aided lighting system.
