DIBRUGARH: The Solid Waste Management Project that was on hold for quiet some time seems all set to start with the state government handing over the land for it to the Dibrugarh Municipal Board (DMB). The announcement that the Asian Development Bank would fund the Rs 30 crore-project was made long back. Little progress was made due to the failure of providing land for it. However, the Urban Development Department of the state issued a notice instructing the Circle Officer of West Revenue Circle to hand over more than 210 bighas of land at Ghuramora Gaon under Mancotta Khanikar Mouza to DMB. The development has given hope that the town will soon be able to dispose its waste scientifically. The land has been acquired for Rs 6.27 crores.
