South Asian women worse off than men in every way

In South Asia women take a back seat to men on everything from health care to education to legal protection, says a United Nations-sponsored report. "Women in South Asia may work from dawn to dusk, but their economic contribution is scarcely acknowledged at the national level and their access to health, education and other facilities lags far behind that of men, says the Human Development in South Asia report prepared annually by the Pakistan-based Human Development Center.
