The five southern states have decided to constitute an economic union, on the lines of the European Union, and draw up an agenda on improving trade, commerce, tourism and attracting investment, among other areas of common interest. Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Ponidcherry also agreed that river disputes between them would be handled by the Inter-States Council and the proposed union would remain within the ambit of the Constitution framework.
