S. Sundar Installs a 10 kw solar power plant to mitigate power shortage Alternative: Solar power plant at Balaganapathy Mills, Malli village, in Srivilliputtur. SRIVILLIPUTTUR: Peak hour restriction on usage of power for industrial units and two-hour load shedding has made a private spinning unit near here to experiment with solar power energy. Initially, the unit has installed a solar power plant of 10 kilowatt to power one of its 28 ring frames of 440 spindles each. The unit, with a capacity to produce 2.7 tonnes of yarn per day, has been producing 1.8 tonnes a day due to power constraint. S. Ramesh, managing director of OEG India Private limited (which is operating and maintaining 30 power plants in the country), who owns the spinning mill, wanted to experiment the solar power project at a cost of Rs. 18 lakh.
