Power situation in the far flung Kadmat island of Lakshadweep will get a boost with the setting up of a state-of-the-art , eco-friendly solar photovoltaic (SPV) power plant by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), says a press release. Devoid of any known sources of power supply, the Union Teritory (UT) of Lakshadweep depended entirely on diesel generation.As it involved transporation of diesel from the mainland, besides being highly polluting, the administration has gone in for solar power systems.
