A sum of Rs 49.21 crore has been sanctioned as compensation for the 1,956,57 hectares of agriculture land acquired in Madhya Pradesh for the Sardar Sarovar Project. Raising the height of the dam to 95 metres had affected 14 villages of Alirajpur tehsil in Jhabua district and nine in Badwani tehsil and nine in Kukshi tehsil of Dhar district.
