A way out of Delhi's space scarcity A multi-level stack parking (puzzle type) project was inaugurated by Delhi Mayor Rajni Abbi in Arya Nagar here on Thursday. The Rs.1.5-crore project can accommodate 90 cars at a time. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Abbi said parking had emerged as a key problem in metropolitan cities like Delhi. “The growing number of vehicles on the city roads is adding to the woes of Delhiites in terms of parking space." The Mayor said the Municipal Corporation of Delhi was concerned about the shrinking space in the city and had therefore taken up various parking projects like stack parking in the congested Arya Nagar area. She said the MCD has constructed the multi-level stack parking as a pilot project and depending on its success the civic body will go in for more of such projects. Lauding the MCD's efforts to ease the parking problem in the city, Leader of the Opposition in Delhi Assembly V. K. Malhotra said similar stack projects should be taken up in other parts of the city so that more parking space can be generated in less area.
