Start soon land acquisition work for Bansagar Thermal Power Project: Shukla

The Minister of State For Energy and Mining Resources (Independent Charge)Rajendra Shukla inspected today the proposed site of 1600 MW Bansagar Thermal Power Project at Tikuritola (Byohara) in Shahdol district. This project will be constructed at a cost of around Rs 10 thousand crore.Shukla instructed the officers of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company to immediately complete the feasibility study report of the project. He also instructed that the work of acquisition of land for the project should be started at the earliest. After getting all information about the proposed projectShukla instructed the officers that the process to get permission from the state and central governments pertaining to the project should be speeded up. Shri Rajendra Shukla also talked with the nearby villagers and replied their queries to their satisfaction. He told them that after coming up of this project there will be all round development of the area. He advised the villagers to admit their children in ITIs so that they get employment in different industries.Shukla told them that for construction of a bridge over Son River near Barabaghela the government has sanctioned Rs 14 crore. The bridge will be constructed soon and after the bridge is constructed the distance between Katni and Byohari will be reduced by about 130 km. Executive Director of the projectU N Holkar informed the minister in detail about the proposed Bansagar Thermal Power Project. He said that a road bridge is proposed to be constructed near the railway bridge at Village Vijayasola for road transportation. Work on construction of the bridge will start soon. He said that with the construction of this bridge and the project the area will be developed. Bansagar Thermal Power Project Administrative sanction of the proposed Bansagar Thermal Power Project was given by the Madhya Pradesh Government in the year 2008. Using super critical system the project was earlier decided to be implemented as a joint project with BHEL. Later, as desired by the BHEL the joint project was shifted to Khandwa district. Now the Bansagar Project is proposed to be implemented by the Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company and its administrative sanction has been received from the Madhya Pradesh Government on 26 March. 2010.
