Thanks to this scheme, birth of a girl child has become a festive occasion in tribal-predominant districts. The same is the aim is the state government. The Union government is also going to implement this scheme in the same format adopted by Madhya Pradesh government and Delhi state has already implemented it. The registration under Ladli Laxmi scheme gathered momentum when the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the current month decided to amend the centralised system for the state government's ambitious 'Ladli Laxmi Yojana'. Now the registration under the scheme would be made at the district level. Lump sum funds would be made available to district collectors for depositing amounts in the name of beneficiaries. The cabinet decided to implement this amendment from the date of implementation of the amendment in place of date of launching of the scheme which is January 1, 2006 The popularity of Ladli Laxmi Yojana even among the people living in remotest parts of the state can be gauged by the fact that a target of benefiting 30 thousand girls was set for the year 2007 against which 40 thousand 854 girls have been benefited. This achievement amounts to 136 percent against the target. During the first two months of the current financial year, 19 thousand 252 girls have been selected as Ladli Laxmis while the target of the scheme till the month of May was only eight thousand 332.
