Study allays fears over Chennai power plant

Amidst controversy over the violation norms, a study done by a reputed private agency has cleared the National Thermal Power Corporation's 1,000 MW South Chennai Thermal Power Project site in Cheyur, 95 km from Chennai, has allayed all fears. Following the standards maintained at the Super Thermal Power plant in Ramagundam, the NTPC is stated to take up all the steps to protect the area from environmental hazards and according to NTPC executice director (Southern Region) A P Ramaswamy various mitigaiton steps would be taken and is expecting clearance from the Pollution Control Board shortly.
