A controversial new study is challenging a fundamental traditional assumption of human evolution namely that Homo Erectus the most advanced version of our forefathers on Earth a million years ago was pretty much of a boob whose highest technology amounted to little more than rudimentary stone tools. Instead, Australian and Indonesian researchers have unearthed evidence that at least in parts of the western Pacific, Homo Erectus apparently was capable of building and travelling on seagoing craft 800,000 years ago, long before the advent of Homo Sapiens, the modern form of humans.
