Japan's Ministry of Transport plans to request $25.86 million in the fiscal 1998 third supplementary budget to subsidize purchases of enviornment friendly trucks by private companies. The measure is designed to reduce air pollution in the Tokyo and Osaka regions, as well as spur weak truck demand amid the economic recession.
