The subsidy scheme to encourage the use of photovoltaic systems for household lighting is being liberalised. Instead of routing the subsidy through the state government agencies who buy the devices and distribute them to the users, it is now proposed to release it directly to the accredited manufacturers who would then supply the system to the users.
