Surplus biomass in Dindigul and Nilakottai taluks was found in a study of Biomass Assessment Project by the Gandhigram Rural Institute. Power plants with capacity of 16.5 MW and 5 MW could be installed in Dindigul and Nilakottai taluks from the surplus biomass available in the area according to Dr. P.Kanniappan, principal investigator and his team members, Dr. S. Ramasamy and Dr. A. David Ravindran.
