The closure of a second reactor at Swedish nuclear power plant Barseback by 2001 will lead to raised imports of oil and electricity, increasing emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), two consultancy firms reported yesterday. "It seems inevitable that some of the power losses (from a close) will be replaced by imported fossil fuels," they said in a report commissioned by the government.
