Swine flu cases decline, SMS hosp discusses preparedness for future

Jaipur: A declining trend in swine flu cases has been reported from Sawai Man Singh (SMS) hospital. A meeting of the SMS hospital administration wing along with head of the departments of different specialties was held on Monday discussing the trend and preparedness of SMS hospital to fight against the increasing threat of seasonal diseases.
According to SMS hospital report on seasonal diseases, there is a declining trend of swine flu. In comparison to January and February, the cases of swine flu reported in March are much lesser in number. Despite the decline, 75 swine flu cases were reported in SMS hospital and six persons had died of the diseases in March so far in SMS hospital.
However, in January 162 swine flu cases were reported and 12 died, while in February 196 cases were reported and 26 persons had died in the hospital. The report says that only 10 persons were brought to hospital for treatment of swine flu from March 18 till 24. However, only one death was reported during the past six days. “We have seen that cases of swine flu are not being reported like in January and February. The trend is showing some respite for the people,” said Dr Ajit Singh, additional director, and nodal officer (swine flu), SMS hospital.
