Oil tanker owners meeting in Sydney yesterday reacted angrily to criticism of their safety record by the U.S. Bush administration's environmental administrator. During the interview with NBC television, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Christine Todd Whitman referred to the tanker industry as the biggest source of oil spill pollution in the United States.
