The Union Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources (MNES) has initiated steps to encourage State Governments to tap the nearly one lakh megawatt electric power potential waiting to be harnessed in the country. The Ministry has begun a special drive to apprise the States of the schemes for power generation from natural sources ike solar energy, biomass, wind, municipal waste and industrial by products.
