Millions of litres of drinking water were used to top up Albert Park Lake and revive grass near the race track in the lead-up to this year's Grand Prix, while government and water authorities were urging water conservation statewide.Sources close to Parks Victoria, which is responsible for Albert Park, said massive amounts of drinking water were pumped into the lake and on to surrounding grass to make the area as "aesthetically pleasing" as possible for the big international television audience attracted by the Grand Prix.
