The long-suffering 2,1-million citizens of Nairobi face an acute water shortage that has spread to the central business district of East Africa's most important city. The government blames the water shortage on a three-year long drought, the worst in three decades and which has left hydroelectric dams, the main source of electric power in Kenya, high and dry. Critics blames the government for mismanagement, corruption and lack of preparedness.
