A study conducted by the Tata Energy Research insitute (TERI) has called upon dairy, food processing, textiles, hotel, edible oil , chemicals, marine chemicals and bulk drug industries alongwith breweries and distilleries to switch over to medium temperature range of solar thermal systems. The study conducted by Mahesh Vipradas and Amit Kumar, senior fellows at TERI , stated that as a major portion of thermal energy requirements in these sectors lie within the temperature range of 100-250 degree centigrade, they could easily afford to switch over to medium temperature range solar thermal system and reduce fossil fuel consumption in industrial process heating.
