The United States has unveiled a plan to abolish all tariffs on manufactured goods by 2015, urging other countries in the World Trade Organisation to do the same. Presented as the culmination of 50 years of strenuous efforts to tear down industrial tariffs in world trade, it aims at sparking new enthusiasm in the faltering Doha round of multilateral trade negotiation.
