The post-war Afghan economy

Over the last year, a strategy to reconstruct and revive the war-ravaged economy of Afghanistan has been put in place with the support and under the influence of international donors. The crucial role of the drought in worsening economic conditions is revealed by an FAO and World Food Programme estimate that agricultural production in 2002 rose by 82%, following better rainfall conditions.
