A total of 1828 tonnes of rice and Tk. 61.95 lakh have been sanctioned for the implementation of 1563 development schemes in ten upazilas and four pourasabhas of Sunamganj district (Bangladesh) in the current fiscal year. The government, in a bid to develop the flood affected rural areas and create employment opportunities for unemployed rural people, has undertaken the projects under Rural Infrastructure Maintenance Programme (RIMP) and Food For Works Programme (FFWP). The projects include repair and maintenance of rural kutcha roads, roads- cum- embankment, excavation of canals, ponds and earth filling of different educational end religious institutions.
