Tamil Nadu, from the present 500 MW deficit, is set to become a 3000 MW power surplus state in 2002 with various projects to the tune of 10,000 MW set to go on steam in the next four years. "After 2001, Tamil Nadu will be the highest power surplus state in the country," asserted Mr Arcot N Veerasamy, state health and electricity minister in Tuticorin yesterday.
