Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) has given independent power producers (IPPs) the option to retain the tariff they have quoted until December 31 this year. The tariffs quoted were valid only up to June 30. However, TNEB has agreed to extend the validity period till December-end as the Centre has changed the liquid fuel policy and this allows IPPs the leeway to switch over to liquid fuels other than naphtha.
