Traditional sources and availability of energy for the consumption of Bangladesh's rural people are depleting day by day due to excessive and unplanned use of biomass fuel. Despite massive urban migration, a survey on rural energy systems in Asia-Pacific showed that in Bangladesh the percentage of population living in the rural areas till the year 2000 remains 73.56, most of whom are still dependent on biomass fuel for their energy consumption.
