Trained volunteers to monitor Central schemes

With implementation now being the buzzword in the UPA-II, the Union rural development ministry is seeking to create a large pool of trained manpower to monitor the mplementation of a number of Central schemes at the grassroots level to improve their effectiveness. The rural development ministry is unveiling a "Lab to Land" project to train Bharat Nirman volunteers, one each for every 40 households, in a pilot project spread over 43 districts in 28 states, who would monitor execution of all Central schemes at the grassroots level to improve their efficiency. The new move comes in the backdrop of human resource crunch being faced by a host of Union ministries to monitor the implementation of their respective schemes. The
